1. Who or what is World Vision?
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.
2. Is it a religiously affiliated group?
Yes, however our non-profit work extends assistance to all people, regardless of their religious beliefs, gender, race, or ethnic background.
3. Who receives Caregiver Kits?
Caregiver Kits are given to family members and local volunteers around the world who are providing compassionate support to people living with AIDS.
Currently 60,000 hardworking volunteers are offering physical and emotional support to affected households in their communities, while family members - many of them children – sacrifice everything to care for sick mothers, fathers, and other relatives. Many of these courageous caregivers lack the basic supplies they need to safely and effectively minister to the sick.
4. What is the purpose of a Caregiver Kit?
These kits are full of basic supplies that can improve and prolong the lives of those living with AIDS while protecting caregivers and preventing the spread of infection. Each kit will bring joy to a caregiver and have an immeasurable impact in a community.
5. Why Caregiver Kits and not medical help or other assistance?
Caregiver Kits are just another way that World Vision is reaching those in need. They are not replacing existing medical care and resources, but are allowing the help to extend to the homes of those living with HIV and AIDS. Because the Caregivers are volunteers, they are going out to the communities to assist their neighbors. Often times a clinic or hospital is a long distance away and somebody who is ill and without transportation cannot easily get there. The Caregivers are essentially nurses who come to you, but they also help with basic household duties, and watch after the children.
6. Who trains the Caregivers to use the kits?
The Caregivers are part of Community Care Coalitions that have been established within their communities and both World Vision staff or the Ministry of Health train the Caregivers how to effectively administer the products in the kit. |

7. How can I be sure that the kits actually get to those who need them?
World Vision has a sophisticated supply chain with over 50 years of international program experience and over 30,000 staff worldwide. The Caregiver Kits become part of this greater supply chain to ensure delivery to the intended recipients within the country.
8. How long after the kits are made are they delivered to the recipients?
Kits take anywhere from 3-6 months to reach their final destination depending on the distance they are traveling.
9. How will they get there?
Once the kits are assembled, packed up and ready to go, World Vision schedules a pick-up at the event location. The kits are sent to their distribution center in Denver or Pittsburg, where they will be packed for international shipping. They will then be trucked to port where they will be loaded and shipped overseas. Once they pass through customs they will be trucked to their final destination where World Vision offices are located.
10. How much of my donation toward each kit is actually used for the kit and getting to the recipient?

11. Does my donation count for charitable deduction status?
Gifts to World Vision qualify as charitable contributions and are tax-deductible.
12. If I purchase an item in the auction, is the purchase tax deductible?
The answer will depend on many factors, so please consult your personal tax advisor. Generally speaking, only amounts paid over and above the fair market value of an item received from a charitable organization would constitute a charitable contribution and therefore be tax deductible. Because the amount paid for an item in an auction usually is equivalent to the fair market value, generally no tax deduction is allowable.
