Equipping Caregivers to Bring Comfort and Support to People Living with HIV/AIDS

World Vision’s Caregiver Kit program was launched in 2006 to give the public a way to offer tangible support to those serving on the front lines of the AIDS pandemic around the world.
Since the program’s start, more than 135,000 kits have been assembled around the United States as churches, community groups, schools and businesses are inspired to take action in the global struggle against AIDS.
In 2008, World Vision aims to assemble at least 125,000 kits. AIDS caregivers are hard-working, local volunteers who provide physical and emotional support to affected households and their communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. They do this by visiting local and remote communities near their homes and providing basic medical care using the Caregiver Kit’s contents.

World Vision has trained more than 59,000 home visitors who are providing care for over 900,000 orphans and vulnerable children, as well as chronically ill adults, all in sub-Saharan Africa alone.
